My Son Sanctuary dates from the 4th to the 13th centuries CE. During the 4th to 13th centuries there was a unique culture on the coast of contemporary Vietnam, owing its spiritual origins to the Hinduism of India. This is graphically illustrated by the remains of a series of impressive tower temples in a dramatic site that was the religious and political capital of the Champa Kingdom for most of its existence. I really loved it when I was there. There was something mystical about the ruins and I can't help but imagine life back in the days where temples were given so much more significance and space. The ruins are really a sight to behold and mind you, my photos are actually not edited.

My Son Sanctuary became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 and is a must visit when you are in Danang or Hoi An. It is about 1.5 hours drive from Danang or Hoi An and we got to the site by a private car which we hired from: http://hueprivatecars.com/  We were based in Danang and we customized our tour such that we covered Marble Mountains and My Son in half a day.

Do note that Vietnam is scorching hot and humid so you might want to start your day early. My Son Sanctuary has no shelters (save for some chambers in the temples) so you would be under the sun most of the time.
